So guess what everybody, my boyfriend finally proposed. We will set a date that will be getting married in Las Vegas on Valentines Day Wedding 2012, so of course I’m super excited. He knows that Valentine’s Day is my favorite day of the year, and being the great guy he is he planned accordingly. After he proposed, I went online to look for Valentine’s Day movies. What I found was a frightening array of terrible Valentine’s Day movie choices and Valentine’s Day spam. People have lists that include Christmas movies, horror movies and every other inappropriate movie ever made. Is it that hard for Google to make a clean list of appropriate romantic Valentine’s Day movies? Try to think with some of my favorites might’ve been, and no one would be serendipity with John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. Another choice would be Love Actually with Hugh Grant, even though I tend to think of that as more Christmas movie. Still it does have its romantic charms, and makes a great romantic flick. Another movie like is of course classic Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. Let’s see let’s refer back to Google now for Valentine’s Day movie results, I see anti-Valentine’s Day movies list. So that’s of no help, so I picked Umbrellas of Cherbourg starring Catherine Deneuve. This is a movie about young lovers this is a movie about young lovers this is a movie about young lovers forced to separate when the boyfriend gets drafted for military service in Algeria. Of course across to stay true to each other, of course life can get complicated. Catherine plays a wonderful girl in this movie.
I think another I would, have to list An affair to remember “any movie with Cary Grant for that matter”.
One more my favorites would be look who’s coming to dinner-because I can’t think of a more poignant, lovely and true to life declaration of lifelong love of Spencer Tracy about Audrey Hepburn’s character toward the end of the film.
The movie I absolutely love is The Notebook with Ryan Gosling. I didn’t watch that movie with very high hopes, but by the end of the movie, we were crying like little babies. It is so romantic and I can recommend it heartily to those romantics our there looking for a great tearjerker romance.
Heres the trailer for valentines day film scouts*
If you watch that movie without getting sentimental, you probably don’t have a heart!
And I would be remiss if I couldn’t list Bridget Jones Diary.
Besides, being romantic, it is just a very funny and cute movie to watch. Renee Zellweger, Hugh Grant & Colin Firth all play their roles masterfully and it has to be listed as one of the classic Valentines Day movies of all time on anyones list I imagine.
So, please have a great time on that special day and keep reading my blog as I will be posting a live link to the internet broadcast of my Valentines Day Wedding In Las Vegas 2012 !!!
